Glorious stint with MSN IMT

POST No:2

I choose MBA for my post graduation, the glamorous among the host. After the admission test ‘ASMIC MAT’, I got admission at MSNIMT, chavara kollam for the course. Even the college was not so elite among the B-schools in state, it enlightens us by developing managerial qualities and skills. More than an academic area of study, the period was an elite experience for me. We almost 20 day scholars commuted every day from kollam city to 30 km away school by an ‘eicher’ bus. Lingering those memories where me and Mr. Uneez chasing the bus most of the days in bike. Becz of our lateness in arriving the bus stop, on time.
After an initial ‘Eyes breaking’ sessions, we got two months induction period, with the intention of shaping us for the management programme. Eminent from various field have conducted the orientation classes. The relatively smaller dose of ragging from seniors helps us to keep a good relationship with them. Major victims of the Rag are hostelers as they are available in college 24X7. Our permanent faculties occupy the classes after the orientation is completed. Mr. Madhu, Mr. Vinith, Mr. Manoj Krishnan, ‘the trinity’ of the MSN, made the initial days stressful by giving the burden of assignments. In fact it helped us to know and tackle the stressful situations in the corporate world.

The Marketing teacher Mr. Madhu elucidate us the glamour which the course, MBA has.
Along the classes, we had attended various programmes organized by the seniors. On the completion of the first semester, we became a part of the programmes organized by various clubs. Every specialization areas had individual clubs. Marketing have ‘MEC (marketing Executives Club), Human Resource have ‘Synergy’, Finance specialized known as ‘Dhanam’ and during our second semester, the seniors formed the club for the systems specialized people as ‘SIM (system Innovative Managers). I suggested the logo for the club. As an organized body of the entire club ‘ACMET’ was also there. We have organized a study tour to Munnar under the banner of ACMET.

My second semester organizational study and e commerce project were at ‘Kerala State Textile Corporation, Trivandrum (KSTC)’.
From the third semester, the classes divided according the combination of specialization. I have opted Marketing and Finance as my major area of specialization. From there onwards, our course progressed with case studies, presentations, organizing programmes and other events. We have assigned different areas to operate in each club. During the time Mr. vinith and Mr. Manoj, Mrs. Ramadevi, Principal Mr. C J Thomas were resigned from the college. Mr. Hariharan became the principal of our college. He offered full support for all in campus programmes.
22nd February 2006 is a red lettered day that we, the group of seven formed an informal group ‘sevenz’. It was formed as an outcome of a product launch competition. We launched ‘Bottled cane Juice’. Fairly, we got third place in the competition (total participants was three groups… haha).
The days become more colourful on the arrival of our junior batch. I cannot remember the days without a smile. I call the days as “Boodious infatuous sleepless days”..- (self created phrase… hihi).
Third and fourth semester we have organized number of in house and outside events. Notable among them was ‘Evoke’, the international seminar on Advertising. We have launched a magazine for the MEC for the first time named Evoke 07.

Under the direction of Mr. Hariprasad, class mate, we have shot a 5 minute video album, which is funded by the college management.
Our specialization classes progressed and those are guided by Mr. Madhu. R (Marketing) and Mr. Kumarapillai (Finance).

Me and Mr. Uneez have found a business opportunity along the final semester, we started a project under the name ‘US associates’. We have undertaken all the project related printings from the college and earn a little as a pocket money out of it (the customers will ever remember us on seeing the face page of their projects …. Fortunately they didn’t kill us) from that money, we managed to have evening gather at the ‘Hotel Bayis, Kollam’ with Deepu, Ganesh, Aalin etc.

For the final project study, I selected marketing, and got chance at India Infoline Securities, Kollam. My topic was ‘Investors perception regarding the Securities Market’. Mr. Sajjad Shajahan, Branch manager was my guide there.

The classes were finished and the farewell party, we enjoyed with splashing water each other.
All of us passed and majority got placed from the campus itself. As a concluding ceremony, our convocation day arrived. We are honored with the degree completion certificate. After the party , the boys gathered at Shastamkottah lake side…. “Just to see the lake and snakes… nothing else…...

Myself… Siyad Abdulsamad

Post No:1

Born in a middle class family on 20th October 1984 in kuttichira, a semi urban village of kollam district. Father Abdulsamad (rtd. Joint Secretory to govt.) Mother Laila Beevi. I was the midmost at our home. Eldest Muhd. Siddik (Lect. in Civil, TKMCE)Youngest Sabith (Mech. engg.) After the ‘graduation’ of two years from several local gurus in my locality, I got admission to the first standard at HLPS (Government aided), Peroor. We call our school ‘Koshnattuvila LP school’ (the family name of the landlord of the school). It was almost near to my home. I enjoyed the first four years of my LP educ’ with the masters Sri.Kunju kunju sir, sasi sir, chandran pillai sir, Smt. Sarala teacher etc and with a team of local friends, Thaha, Irshad Madreasa friend Anas etc. Alongwith, the madrasa education at kuttichira Rifai Msjid and Puliyath Thaikkav. After the fourth standard, I along 20 (say) neighborhood frnz, joined SABTM School, Kureeppally school which is 5-6 Km away from my home. Our mission there was to save the school from division cut due to the lack of student strength. I still remember the daily joyful journey in the Matador with reciting the hit movie songs of the period like ‘kaboolivala’. After passing the fifth standard, I changed my school to our nearest government school Meenakshi Vilason GVHSS. It is known by the nearness of Meenakshi temple. I rejoined with my old friends from HLPS and I continue there till my 10th standard. I was in standard ‘E’ where all the school topers (‘school lowers’ too)were. Our class teacher was Mrs. Lissamma Mathew.

During the time I was interested to draw cartoon and writing kid’s poems. Participated in some school in- house programmes also. Three of my poems published in Kids’ weekly ‘Balabhumi’ in name ‘Siyad kutttichira’. Still the copies are with me.
As a shock against the college dreams, the state government decided to detach pre-degree from the arts colleges and to start plus two schools. Thus we are forced to go schools again in uniforms and with Tiffin boxes.
With the intention of escaping from my favorite 'un-favorite' science subjects, I decided to go for commerce stream for my higher education. As my SSLC mark didn’t allow me to join any schools I joined The Chapter College, a known parallel college in kollam dist. After two months there, I got admission into a newly started plus two schools under the renowned education brand name of TKM Trust. Thus we become the first batch in the history of TKMHSS. Mr. Naseeb, Mr. Yahiya, Mrs. Sherin, Mrs. Aneesa were the teachers and it was the great years in my career. As we were the first batch, we enjoyed certain advantages. Our class rooms are in the same building of TKM College. Hence for all the major events in the college, we somehow managed to get there.
After the +2, I got admission to TKM College of Arts & Science, Karicode for the B.Com, under the mentors like Mr. Prakash Mathew, Mr. Rajmohan, Mr. Skariya, Mrs. Pathumuthu, Mrs. Saharunnisa, Mrs. Eline Vas (the Late) English professors Mr. Shamsuddin etc. Also I got guidance from Mr. Sunil Kumar (Hi Commerce) for the commerce subjects. We enjoyed the campus elections, marches, strikes etc. Even I was not an active member of any political groups; we happily joined with all the strikes announced by all the parties without seeking the reason for it (as most of people do). During my second year the Hon’ble High court banned campus politics from colleges. Thus we started to see our class room every day (provided if there is no new film release). I managed to get First class (first in my career) for B.Com.

The confusion of choosing a PG course resulted in delay for applying entrance exams but lately I choose MBA and got admission at MSNIMT, chavara 20 Km away from my home. More than a course of study, the two years was a ‘cream of the crop’ experience for me. (My MBA experience will be published in the next post) We learned through case studies, seminars, project submittals and through organizing events. We have organized number of management meets, including an International Seminar. All those possible because of the leadership of our marketing guru Mr. Madhu and the team of good friends.
I had opted Finance and Marketing combination as my core area. After the final project study with India Infoline (Now IIFL)I continued there as a trainee for few months under the guidance of Mr. Sajjad Shajahan, TM of IIFL. I got a fragment of knowledge about Share market from him. After I joined Religare securities as Relationship Manager under Mr. Shibu (BM). On joining itself we witnessed one of its big crashes ever the securities market and we experienced hard time to survive in the marketing field. I work for 6 months there and I forced to quit from the sector.

Later I switched my career to Social service and I got appointed at State Poverty Eradication Mission (Kudumbashree) as marketing consultant. My prime duty was to evolve the marketing strategies for its rural products produced under the brand name of Marari Marketing Ltd. Alappuzha. I was appointed there on contract basis. I could able to visit many places and can meet number of personalities as a part of the job. The 12 year old revolution of Kudumbashree holds three noble concepts like women empowerment, Economic Empowerment and Social Empowerment. I was appointed under the able leadership of Mrs. Sharada Muraleedharan IAS. (The executive director), the smart and workaholic. Working with Kshree made my stint a great learning experience. I resigned after the completion of the contract. In the meantime I completed the first year of another PG course, M.Com by distance education.

I relocated my career to Middle East as administrative assistant of a construction company, ‘Bina Advanced concrete products’. Now I am about to complete the first year of my service at Saudi Arabia, the Holy land. I performed the holy UMRAH also. Now I am awaiting the result of my M.Com final year.

Between these lines I missed lot of names, events, moments which I can’t forget. (Which can expect in the forthcoming posts.)
All these are……. ABOUT ME!!!!

My likes:- to play with kids, to see Malayalam movies, to stay with my family, to spend the weekend with local friends, and to keep update my online social networks.

My vision is; “to become a part of the developed India by running a self owned enterprise”.
